about
This song was written by Barry Mangione and his online audience during the live web show, Barry On The Spot. Each week the artist and the audience collaborate on a different topic to write a song in 30 minutes. For this show, the inspiration was long-time audience member and friend, Elsalee Jay Flynn's fight with cancer. We wanted to give her a boost & let her know we were thinking about her. Lyrical inspiration for this song was provided by Melissa Boyer, Darrell Long, Anthony Cardno, and Scott Witt. All proceeds from downloads of this song will be donated to Appalachia Service Project of Katonah, NY.
lyrics
It's not fair, what you're going through
But we want you to know we're thinking of you
And when you're done, you need to have a good time
Get a few drinks with your favorite leper mime
Elsalee, you got this
Elsalee, you got this
You can kick cancer's ass
When you're ready, you can write romantic words
Til then, we'll keep singing about turds
And when you get tired, you sing this song
To remind you of how we're all silly and wrong
Elsalee, you got this
Elsalee, you got this
You can kick cancer's ass
Cancer can be totally for the birds
But if it helps, think of us nerds
We know chemo is really shitty
But we hope you smile at our little ditty
Elsalee, you got this
Elsalee, you got this
You can kick cancer's ass
